Challenge
For Killers of the Flower Moon, we were working with Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and a rising star in Lily Gladstone in the film's director and lead actors. Attention for the film wasn't going to be a challenge, so we were tasked with finding sociall-first ways to respectfully tell the story about the genocide of indigenous members of the Osage, bring audiences further into the process of the storytelling and highlight the thematics around love, trust and betryal. All of that while keeping fans engaged with themes that don't traditionally lead to real online conversation.
Solution
Our approch was to help thriller fans embrace a more contemporary masculine archetype who they could support without feeling guilty. To do this, we embeded the show's mystery within a mystery into all social content. The reason Sugar is different from the traditional sleuth is the actual mystery of the show -- not the missing granddaughter. Taking the audience on this ride from episode-to-episode, highlighting fan theories, and sharing clues they did not realize were clues until the reveal allowed us to highlight Sugar's apparent heart in ways that felt right for fans of the genre.
